Sending Smells

When do you think we'll have the tech to send smells? Or do you not think we will ever be able to?

OG, it won’t happen with anything as crude as scent release capsules. Digital interface for actuating smell sensations are being researched. This is done by stimulating the olfactory receptors using weak electrical pulses. The sensitivity and effectiveness of electrical stimulation on human smell receptors is being studied by using different current and frequency parameters. Hariri Surina is a leading scientist in the field.

And you think folk at home are going to be ok with wearing something that'll apply weak electrical pulses up their nose ? You'll be telling me next folk will be ok wearing a scold's bridle to get taste from the PC. All sounds non-starters to me.

I’ve got absolutely NO sense of smell. Used to have. Sometimes I think I can smell things but it’s just my brain remembering them. Oh to smell a roast dinner again.......: (

And you think people will be happy to trust a small piece of plastic to pay their bar bill?

And you think people will be happy to insert small speakers in their ears to listen to music.
