Microsoft Word
6 Answers
I recently got a new SSD hard drive on my desk top with Windows XP as an operating system.
However when I came to use Microsoft Word, it would not let me enter text and a message came up on my screen that it was looking for Front Page ?
Any help really appreciated...Thanks

Was it on your old hard drive ?
Did MS Office work before you upgraded the drive ?

Click Start > Search and look for a file called winword.exe.
If the file's not there then Microsoft Word wasn't installed when the XP operating system was put onto the new drive. (Word isn't actually part of XP itself).
If the file's there, double-click on it.
If Word then opens normally your problem is simply with a dodgy shortcut (which is trying to find and open Microsoft FrontPage instead of Microsoft Word). Right-click on winword.exe and use the option to create a new desktop shortcut.
If Word fails to open when you double-click on winword.exe then Word has failed to install properly.

PS: You don't need Microsoft Word anyway. The majority of AB members seem to use one of the main three alternatives. (They're all freebies). i.e. Apache OpenOffice, LibreOffice or WPS Office Free.
My own choice is OpenOffice (which will run under Windows XP):
