Vocals sound muffled & are raised by a few octaves very annoying especially when playing cd's. Checked speakers & settings & all seem fine, worked ok this morning. Please help!

Do you have the right drivers installed for your sound device? Check your sound card or computer manufactuer's website for driver updates, and make sure you have a working install of the latest available drivers.

Is it just vocals, or present for all sounds?

Pretty sure that tomd is right, check the drivers...
I had a similar problem when trying to play CDs at work - all the music played just a little bit too fast and it was really annoying. I managed to get around it for a while by telling the computer to read the CDs "not digitally" (if that makes any sense at all?!!!), however I managed to sort it out completely by updating the driver.

I've had a similar problem when i use Mediaplayer... Try using the files directly from 'MyMusic' folder in the Users Folders section
