Case Fan Problem

Wondering if anyone can help me , I'm having a problem with the case fans on my pc, the LEDs light up but the fans don't spin. They were working fine one minute then they just stopped

Your first step should be to put a multimeter across the terminals on a fan. If there's power present, you'll know that it's a fault with the fan. If not, you'll know it's a fault with the circuitry supplying power to the fan.

Assuming the latter, you should then look for a physical problem, such as a loose connection somewhere. Beyond that, things can get a bit tricky, as you'll need to consider what's inside your computer that can affect the relevant circuit. It could be a problem with a component or it might be related to the BIOS. (Examine the BIOS to see if there are any temperature settings that might be relevant).

You say fans, so I assume that there are at least two possibly 3. It would be unusual for all the fans to stop if it was physical(dust and debris being the usual suspect) so we need to think either power to the fans or a problem with the settings parameters in the BIOS. I would also assume that the LED lights to the fans would be in series with the fans so power looks unlikely. I think that I would be shutting down in the normal way. Then power up again and immediately hold down F12 which will take you into the safe boot options. Depending on your system you should be able to, using the diagnostic option, find whether you have the 12v supply from the power unit(most desktops use 12v for the fan motors) or you may be able to alter the settings if you have them set for a particularly warm environment and it is now working in cooler conditions.

There are 4 fans, neither of which spin, I've checked for loose connections but couldn't find any, it's baffled me as they were working ,

When I had a desktop fans needly frequent cleaning as did the the processor.

I strip my desktop down at least once a year Tonyv and clean up the blades and vacuum out all the dust and fluff from the motor housings. But it would be pretty random for 4 fans to stop together I would think. You never know mind if all the fans are in series and equipped with a reed switch that turns of power to all if one is jammed it is conceivable I suppose. Think I would be looking at power or settings issues. Hard to diagnose without the machine in front of us.

have you tried disconnecting them, and then reconnecting them..

Thank you for all the Answers, one of the 4 fans was down, which stopped the others from spinning, thankfully a cheap fix
