I just received my virgin bill and I was horrified to find an expensive call had been made from my landline, it was an 0904 number and I didn’t make the call and there’s no one else in the house, I wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

It's the DVLA, apparently.
That's the sort of thing that can happen if a spam caller asks you to "Press 1" eg, because BT are about to do something to your internet. You might find that Virgin has an option to bar you from making premium-rate calls.

Thanks, I’ll get onto them
If you list the full number we could try to look it up for you. Could you have called the DVLC?
^DVLA
"It's the DVLA, apparently."

Impossible. No public bodies are allowed to operate premium phone numbers - they are issued with 030 numbers which cost a *maximum* of 10p per minute.

DVLA uses numbers of the format 0300 790 680x
More likely one of those bogus sites that come up high on the list when you Google "DVLA" or "car tax" or similar

AB has a Topic called 'Spam and Scams'

Bit old but I am sure the problem is ongoing just as there is for spoof HMRC, EHIC sites etc
