I am addressing a meeting and know my voice is not strong enough to reach the back of the
audience. What sort of basic speaker/mike combo should I use?
Help much appreciated.. Many thanks

Almost any combination of a microphone and amplifier (plus speaker) will do the job. Even the lowest-powered amplifiers can provide you with sufficient volume to fill a fair-sized hall.

Where are you intending to get the equipment from? (Are you planning on buying it or, if it's only a one-off event, borrowing/hiring it?)

Will you be standing in one place when delivering your address or will you need to move across a stage so that you can point to displays, etc? (With the former situation a wired mike would be fine but with the latter you might find a wireless mike easier to use).
Good enough for your very basic requirements (unless it's a very big hall that you'll be speaking in) - and cheap too!
