Samsung Remote Not Working Properly
19 Answers
TV is a spare, around 10 years old ... Number on remote is BN5900865A and has been fine up until today, we only use this TV occasionally. Remote channels only go Up so can't go down again to ITV and watch football ... On number 25 at moment! Have changed batteries, volume works OK. Is this a problem with remote or tv please? Should I buy a compatible remote from eBay??

I am pressing all the channels manually on the remote, 1,2,3 etc. and they don't work, and on the Up and Down arrows on the remote, only the Up works!! The number on the back of the set is LE32B450 C4W. Do you think the problem is with the remote or the TV? Thanks.

You could try a restart,,,,if you are sure that the batteries are good and that there is nothing spoiling the infra red signals. Try this.
Remove the batteries from the remote for at least twenty seconds, then press the power button on the remote(without the batteries in) . Replace the batteries and turn the TV off and on again at the switch. (ie. not on standby...off at the mains). After that if it is still not working properly you may need to pair the remote with the tv again. Yo do this by holding down the two matching buttons on the tv and remote for about 5 seconds with the remote within 12 inches of the tv. If this does not sort it the rubber mat contact on the remote is probably dirty and not making contact. If you have the patience it is possible to open up the remote and clean the metallic contact on the rubber mat and the contacts on the circuit board and hey presto.

It's good to know that my post at 2045 worked.
If the one at 2052 does as well, you probably need a new remote. i.e. the problem would appear to be with the remote, rather than with the set. Alternatively, if you're only using the set occasionally, you could probably just keep using the button on the side of the set anyway.

Probably doesn't hurt to get a spare universal remote anyway. I'd look for recommendations were I you, rather than just find the cheapest. And when not in use, keep with all the instructions on pairing it to a TV. It can be very frustrating and time consuming to find your spare remote and not know how to set it.
