Iphone Restore To Factory Settings
6 Answers
Hi
If I accidentally enter my iPhone password 10 times will it restore it to factory settings?
I want to restore an iPhone to factory settings but I do not have my iCloud password or my iTunes password. I do know my passcode and I know that I have set it to delete all data if I (or someone else) accidentally enters password 10 times.
The reason for this is that I wanna sell my old iPhone and don’t want any of my info on there.

my settings are set to “delete all data if passcode is entered incorrectly 10 times.... so I thought perhaps this will erase all data and restore to factory settings ?

That would erase the data but if you had logged into your apple account on the phone, to use iCloud etc. then no-one else would be able to use it. Apple introduced this to stop people stealing phones, resetting them and selling them on. We had a complete nightmare (in fact gave up) attempting to unlock my late fathers iPad because of this. Your best bet would be to see if you could get to an Apple store & talk to their Genius Bar.

Use the above link to reset your iCloud password. Your iCloud user name, your iTunes user name and your Apple ID will be the same. Ie the email address you no longer use will be your Apple ID.
Once you have reset your password you need to disable ‘Find my iPhone’ (Settings>Apple ID> Find my IPhone> Turn off) and then reset to factory settings
