Adblock

I've got Adblock on my computer but when I go on a website it asks me to unblock it as they rely on advertising, so if I don't then I can't see what's on the page! So I unblock it and all the ads come back! The worst ones for me are Adchoices, they are all over the page. Any advice for me, please?

unblock it to read the page you want then block it again. If the ads make the page unreadable, well, that's up to them.

Like Hopkirk, I use Brave browser, and do not get ads.
Brave has a built in adblocker.

I look at the Mail online every day (with no ads thanks to a blocker)and today out of the blue it stops you viewing unless you disable it. I could tolerate ads if they didn't have such an impact on performance (such as they do on this site). The Mail now is plastered with ads, takes ages to load properly and sets my fan into overdrive.

Hc It's not possible to go on Mail online unless you disable your adblocker and then when you do that, all the ads pop up.

Barsel, I can assure you I see no ads on DM using Chrome and Ublock Origin

i just don't bother with sites that try and force you to un block. Some of them, especially the newspaper sites, are just unusable without ad block, they just blitz you with so much tish it locks the puter up.

I wish the websites would understand the ads would be better tolerated if they were less disruptive.

hc have downloaded Ublock origin and now have no ads on Chrome. Thank you.

valid point hc, in fact our local paper has a survey when they notice an adblock, I filled it in basically saying that if they were not so disruptive they'd be tolerable.

I'm really hoping this new browser takes off, TTT. I don't expect everything to be free but really hate intrusive ads. If I can pay a reasonable amount every month to not see ads and know that the websites I use are getting their money, I'll be happy.
I don't watch ads on tv, either.

Tora, you should find U-Block Origin in Firefox, Settings, Extensions, if my memory is correct.
