Someone I know installed the free version and suggests that it makes it very easy to break the law. It allows you to download many things of interest very easily. What my friend did not realise was that it also allows everybody else to upload from the shared area of your pc which can restrict the bandwidth available to you for surfing etc. !Beware of what you download as some of the content is not "what it says on the tin".

Suggest a good policy would be to run the virus checker and spyware tools on the downloaded content before opening.

I've been using it for a good couple of years now, and not had a single security issue.
Running a comprehensive firewall and scanning for viruses regulary wouldn't go amiss though.

You can set Limewire so that it doesn't allow uploads, so I believe.

Limewire is the most watched P2P network from a copyright protection agency point of view. If you plan on downloading certain media types that are illegal in some countrys, try a peer protection program like 'Peerguardian2' this should stop your IP being logged by the Men In Black suits.
