nope, you sure it's legit.
Yes, it’s fine - just people in your area asking for recommendations for trades people, moaning about dog crap, berating people for not joining in with communal litter picks, the usual
Yes I've joined my local one in London. Got a few useful updates on what's happening in the area. Few spam like emails.
I recommend if you join that you use an email address solely for this as I get a lot of mail, mostly irrelevant to me. So create a new email addy.
I got halfway through joining and then decided I'd probably get a lot of spam, so I aborted the application. I get the spam anyway, with no ability to look further into the emails as I don't have a password so the message is either join properly or don't even start.
Yes, I use it occasionally. I can advertise local events, ask for help finding tradesman etc. It is like a local version of Facebook. If you can adjust the settings on your account, you shouldn't get a lot of email notifications.
Yes I've been a member of mine for at least a year. Perfectly legit and good for hearing and talking about local issues, lost pets, accidents etc and for sale items. Only con is I get an awful lot of update emails but I'm sure I could amend that in settings if I could be bothered.
//Nextdoor is the best way to stay informed about what’s going on in your neighbourhood—whether it’s finding a last-minute babysitter, planning a local event, or sharing safety tips.//

Sounds horrendous.
Yes, been on our local villages one for about 12 months. Like Prudie get a lot of emails re new posts and updates, lots of useful info and warnings of scams, car reg nos of suspicious individuals. There is a co-ordinator who posts a lot of information the local police want to get out to the public.
Never had any spam though.
We have it here, Norfolk, it's handy but does get hi-jacked by people advertising their services.
its legit but some of them turn into nag and moan sites. Where I live the grapevine is as virulent as knotweed and the grapes it produces are sour so I stay well out.
I have been a member since before Nextdoor took over the site. It was formerly know as 'Streetwise'.

I find it invaluable for information and recommendations about local trades people, letting people know I've found a lost dog, asking for help and advice and knowing what's going on around and about.
We do not have moaning, nosy , small town mentality people on the site. I suppose we are luck. I look in most days. There is always something interesting to read.
I did join but it was a waste of time. I kept getting emailssaying we couldn't be a member unless more neighbours join (they need a minimum of 10)and asking me to recruit more neighbours. There need to be a certain number in a parish. We only have three neighbours! no other visible housing. Others homes in the parish are few and far between and scattered over a large rural area. Now I have been getting spam telling me that a neighbour would be visiting me to collect my yearly dues and to have the cash ready!
We had a successful residents association then we all got letters pushed through letterboxes saying Dear [name of village] Neighbour and asking us to join Nextdoor. The Residents association advised us all to ignore it. I got the impression from the letter that it was aimed at the Muslim/Pakistani residents though who perhaps felt the usual channel didn't adequately reflect their needs
I had a leaflet through the door saying I had to join. Therefore I didn’t.

ok thanks all, I think I'll pass, last thing I need is a local twitface.
Subscriptions, APC?

I have never paid anything.
Like Tilly, I joined my local Nextdoor site. In general I find it useful, getting news from my parish council and road information just as a couple of examples. As for any fees being requested .... absolutely not!
You get e-mails about break-ins and the like. Nothing overly useful really.
Tilly2 //Subscriptions, APC?//

Hence how I know it was spam!
Oh yeah. Sorry, missed that bit.
