I've got a text from EE saying I've used up 80% of my data. I thought I was on the internet in the place where I'm staying. Apparently not.

Sandy, you need to use the accommodation Wi-fi. Turn off the mobile data button on your phone.
I'd proceed with caution. I sometimes get texts which seemed to be from EE saying that I was nearing my limit and could click on a link to buy more but EE confirmed they were not from EE
Of course it could be genuine if your data usage on your phone is showing you are at 80%. A sTilly says make sure you are connected to the wifi wherever you are

Thank you both.
I'll look for the data button and see what happens then.
Come back if you have no joy, Sandy. Thanks for BA. x
Why dont you download the EE app .. from this you can see your actual usage for minutes, texts and data at any given time ?

In settings I see I am connected to wifi.
I'll just ignore the EE message.
Is the mobile data switched off? (Pale grey)
Sandy, I assume you must have a smart-phone, with your 3 fingers pull down the top of your main screen, you will see wifi, sound mobile date - wifi and mobile data will be on, just tip the screen on mobile data, that will turn it off
What is the number 'EE' have used for their text or what is the web address they are suggesting you click on. I guess it's a scam text
You should be able to read your data usage
It's all data/ Internet.

Look at your WiFi info. It should say if and what you are connected to.

No idea if your mobile is set up to default to WiFi or data, but switch data off if you don't want to use it.
>It's all data/ Internet.

Yes and no, O-G. I'm on EE and I can see my mobile data usage and my WIFI data usage. A quick look should tell sandy what he needs to know
Your WiFi is data too. Just via a local modem, not your supplier's mobile network.
Yes, I know. I'm not sure of your point . I think sandy should look at both figures. If one is too high and the wifi lower than expected then something needs to be done to get the balance right.
There should also be an icon on your phone showing whether you are on WiFi or 4g or whatever.
