Which should I go for 2004 (cheaper) or the 2005 edition??

If you run a firm sending hundreds of lorries all over Europe every day then you'd be wise to buy the latest version. Otherwise I doubt that you'll lose anything by getting the older version.

I used to have Autoroute on my PC. (It's one of the few bits of software from Microsoft worthy of a place in the commercial market). I've come to realise, however, that I'm still much happier using the atlas in my car. (You can normally get an up-to-date printed UK road atlas for a couple of quid in most supermarkets). If I want a printed route before I start, I just use the online route planners at the AA or ViaMichelin websites.
