I have BT Broadband which i thought meant you could use the phone and be on the net at the same time. Yet whenever i am on my computer and the phone goes, my connection is broken and i have to start again. Is this right?

NO-- have you a splitter on EVERY phone no just where your pooter is

No, you should definately be able to do both - as rsd2525 says its most likely a set up prolem.

Make sure you've got a filter on every phone you've got, including your Sky TV connection if you've got one - if you've already done this & you've still got a prolem, its probably a faulty/broken microfilter, if your in the 1st 12mths BT will replace them free, if not it's cheaaper to get them from PC World or somewhere like that!

I saw in one of the DIY shops, think it was homebase, for 10 they sell filter/spliters that replace the existing 'in the wall' extension box's, look a lot neater than the normal filters.

these frontplates are good too as they're less likely to break - BT will fit them free of charge if you prove to have a problem with the line, but its quicker if you just buy them - it would take around 4-6 weeks of passing it around before that would be offered!!

Can you guess who I work for?? :oP

Probably you need to try a bit of elimination first, such as disconnect all telephones and/or devices, included the microfilter and leave only the Broadband modem connected direct to the incoming line and try it by connecting to the internet and then phone yourself from a mobile, if it works connect the microfilter only and try again, connect each phone one by one and try again each time. Eventually you should be able to get a good idea of which item is causing the problem.
