What model of Lenovo is it?

Several Lenovo laptops have 2 batteries (one internal and one removable one), the ones I know are like that are the T series (T470, T480 and so on)

If one of the batteries fails you'll only get a approx 50% charge on the laptop.

My T470 has exactly that problem, my removable battery has failed and my charge only ever shows about 50%.

If you click on the battery icon on your taskbar (bottom right, down near the clock) if yours has two batteries you should be able to see, mine currently shows Battery 1 at 100% and battery 2 (the failed one) at 0%.

Sorry for the late response but thanks all for your input and thanks Togo!
Haha Tony. Ta. I take it that it worked then. Used to work for me on my old HP Pavillion( still runs well after 8 years) but I have since replaced the battery.
