I've recently gone onto Call Safe with TalkTalk. When a friend of mine phoned me on his Withheld number and was asked his name, he didn't want to give his name so he said 'Sod off' and his call wasn't put through. He said he doesn't believe me when I said my phone didn't ring as he can't see how a machine can differentiate between a name` and someone saying Sod Off. Is he right?

It's not your phone that's handling the call; it hasn't got that far. It's TalkTalk's computer that (in much the same way that AB's server filters out certain words) is programmed to recognise offensive terms and to then terminate those calls automaticall y. It's not your phone that's handling the call; it hasn't got that far. It's TalkTalk's computer that (in much the same way that AB's server filters out certain words) is programmed to recognise offensive terms and to then terminate those calls automatically.
I hope that you're not expected too many calls from Russia though. If, say, Alexander Sodov was to phone you, his surname might get picked up as being offensive ;-)
