Panasonic Hdd Recorder

Any thoughts on this please ? I have model DMR-HW220 or DMR-120 with handset (separate from TV handset).
I can watch TV perfectly well via recorder box but the semi circular green button for the Guide does not work so I can't highlight a programme to record it.
All the other functions on the recorder handset work. But if I press the Guide the screen goes black (with sound).
And when it goes black I can't press Return to go back to the picture as I would normally.
Has the button got too squidgy perhaps ? Thanks for any opinions.

A new remote control, at just seven quid, shouldn't break the bank!

Your subsidiary post now suggests that the problem isn't specifically related to the green button, so maybe it's not a circuit fault beneath it after all. It might still be worth trying a new remote control anyway though.
Otherwise, as you say, the fault could lie within the main device. That would probably mean that it's time to buy a new PVR :(

I can't remember exactly how to do it but there is a method for setting recordings manually (at least on my model). It's the old method of recording ie, you can set it to record channel 1 at 8pm for 30 mins, so has the disadvantage that it doesn't shift the recording to match the programme if it's broadcast at a slightly different time to that advertised.
For instructions on Bhg's recording method, see the right-hand column here:
