have opened up and that's it. I managed to put plug in. nothing lights up.

all along the side of the lap top there are openings for buttons etc but in the box there are no buttons or fixtures.

Do I have to take the buttons out of the hard drive of my computer and try and fit THOSE in. I know nothing about laptops. Thanks

The 'holes' in the side of your laptop are ports for USB devices, etc. You can ignore them for now if you're simply trying to get to grips with the machine.

There will be a power button somewhere on the laptop, marked with the usual broken circle with a line cutting into it. e.g. https://s3.amazonaws.com/digitaltrends-uploads-prod/2013/09/HP-Spectre-13-laptop-power-button-macro.jpg
(They're not always easy to spot!). Press and briefly hold it to power the laptop up.

It may not be obvious it is a button they are often flush to the laptop. Quite often with HPs' it is top left above the keyboard, above the Esc / F1 buttons.

Is there a sliding button on the front edge? What model is it? It should work straight out of the box

right sorted and got my old computer properly rotated.

now with the new laptop I have got the languages on - it has stopped at United Kingdom - then way down the laptop it is says yes


have pressed Y - nothing happens

Try pressing 'enter' key if it is on the correct one

right latest. have been able to key in the WiFi number - and put my email address. fine. next they are asking me for a new email address of which I don't want or need one so put the usual email address. now it is telling your first is domain - I want my first one to be domain. with the result NEXT AND NEXT won't work

can;t be bothered with all this

yes on my HP
"on" is 2 cm north of the escape button and looks like a ridge
and is ridgy to feel
