The 'holes' in the side of your laptop are ports for USB devices, etc. You can ignore them for now if you're simply trying to get to grips with the machine. There will be a power button somewhere on the laptop, marked with the usual broken circle with a line cutting into it. e.g....

It may not be obvious it is a button they are often flush to the laptop. Quite often with HPs' it is top left above the keyboard, above the Esc / F1 buttons.
right latest. have been able to key in the WiFi number - and put my email address. fine. next they are asking me for a new email address of which I don't want or need one so put the usual email address. now it is telling your first is domain - I want my first one to be domain. with the result NEXT AND NEXT won't work
