Completely Locked Out Of Facebook & Fb Messenger

I have been happily posting on FB for years and have a lot FB friends on this site (they must think I'm dead). However about 10 days ago I was locked out and cannot get back in by any means whatsoever. I think it may have something to do with the new two factor authentication.
I have asked for codes to be resent, I get codes which I try and input but they always tell me it is incorrect. I have tried changing passwords and email accounts. (This applies both to FB and messenger). My partner is very IT orientated but even he cannot understand why I can't get back on - so here's a challenge for you all... :-)
There is a lot going on in my life right now whereas messenger at least would be very beneficial. The only customer service online help offered is for FB business accounts.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Has anyone any advice or solution?

I’m sorry Ellipsis, I am officially techno-stupid. I’ve downloaded & opened the app. It asks me to begin set-up (I clicked manual entry). Then it asks for account (I assume this is email account ?), then key (???) then time-based? I’m stumped already.
I’d ask OH but he’s up on the roof in the dark & sighing a lot...

I've been looking at this a bit more and I think you're in some trouble!

You're in the same position as someone that has an Authenticator account but has lost their device and now has a new one. That situation is described on this page:

The advice:

If you can't access an account without the authenticator, then you'll have to attempt account recovery.

You'll need to contact Facebook support for help with a Facebook account. This is a Google help forum (different company).
