Probably been asked umpteen times before here, but I'm looking for recommendations since my woman asked me to suggest something; and I am going around in circles on the web finding those recommended for UK/2020 have unacceptable "cons" or clearly are so old they are always out of stock.
I'm unsure of exact requirements save that it must copy and scan too. A4 necessary. Colour and b&w. Would not want to spend massive amounts, anything near £½k is going to be rejected, possibly not £300 even. Cheap inks a bonus. Reliability a must. Robustness useful. And since Muggins here will be trying to connect and set it up, something straightforward would be useful.
Anyone know of something that would fit the bill ?
She is my woman, I am her man. What other description would I use if I decide not to give a name ? I thought this fake indignation had been dropped ages ago.
Just a nudge Geezer. Wifi is very useful. It means that you can locate the printer somewhere. That is, perhaps, in a room or place that is not regularly used. It could free up space in the pc area and a laptop can call for a print without a bleedin ethernet link. For instance ...we located ours in the spare bedroom. When my son used to sleep in there I had it set for silent printing at set hours when a normal person would be sleeping. That room is now the "working from home office" for "She who must be obeyed" and very useful it is too ultimately.
OG; is colour really necessary? I am sick of cheap inkjet printers, which cost a fortune to run and make an inky mess everywhere. Black and white laser printer (e.g. Samsung 2165W) is cheap to buy and run; but B & W only.
It'll be in her study, the PC at one end, the printer at the other. WiFi not vital in that case, but nice to have. Colour is useful, especially on screen dumps detailing something. Most of the time it isn't necessary, but when it is, it is.
She has a smaller Brother one at present. It's pretence that the inks aren right, even new and genuine, has caused her to give up on it. Bit pricey too I think. Looking at about £200 max ?
I have an HP Photosmart, cheap and reasonably reliable but it eats ink and they're expensive, the cheaper options don't last as long so cost about the same in the long run. I've never used the photo printing options because of the ink costs, it's just not viable.
