All-In-One Printer

Probably been asked umpteen times before here, but I'm looking for recommendations since my woman asked me to suggest something; and I am going around in circles on the web finding those recommended for UK/2020 have unacceptable "cons" or clearly are so old they are always out of stock.

I'm unsure of exact requirements save that it must copy and scan too. A4 necessary. Colour and b&w. Would not want to spend massive amounts, anything near £½k is going to be rejected, possibly not £300 even. Cheap inks a bonus. Reliability a must. Robustness useful. And since Muggins here will be trying to connect and set it up, something straightforward would be useful.

Anyone know of something that would fit the bill ?

How much printing does she do a month? Is A4 the biggest size of paper she will use?
Does she need to print high quality colour photos?

Not counted, but about a dozen sheets a week I suspect. Rarely want photo quality but would prefer the option should it ever be needed. Never seen anything needing larger than A4, but one can always sellotape two together should the need arise. 2 sided would be nice too.

I've got an HP Envy Photo 6230 which does all those things. Cost about £50 and its great.

Canon Pixma, around £200. Inks silky price, but compatibles fine, and cheap.

I got a Canon Pixma TS3100 for £29.99 last year as recommended AB and it’s very good. Excellent quality printing.

I have used a Canon PIXMA MG6450 for about 5 years now. No problems to date.
Relatively inexpensive c£100
Prints A4
Prints 2 sided
Colour and B&W
Copy and Scan
Easy to set up - I didn't go for the Wireless function just plug direct into the laptop

The inks cost about £15.00 and there are two - Black and Multi. Available from Tesco sometimes on special offer. They last me ages and I think I use my printer about the same as your lady - how dare you call her 'my woman' ha ha xx

Anything Canon. If she want to print heavy stuff like card then get one that has a straight through feed as well as a cassette and yes I find non oem work fine. They will void your guarantee though so I wait until the guarantee has expired. A3 printing can be a bonus

Oh and single colour cartridges are more economical than one cartridge that holds all the colours

I am using my second Canon all in one printer Geezer. It even has a fax facility. If I was looking for a replacement I would be looking at Canon again. I can't believe the prices that they are asking mind. I only paid about £35 for a Pixma 410 about 7 years or so back. You didn't say if you wanted wifi capability but I would assume so. Had a quick look around and think that I would be looking at something like this if I was in the market.

Haha. One or two of us like Canon then. Never had an issue with mine. We also used a Canon in the CAD office when I was in harness and it was excellent. Just remember that when you do set up a printer/scanner that your pc will call it 2 devices.

We bought a Brother DCP L3550CDW about a year ago and we're very happy with it. It's laserjet, which means it probably isn't photo-quality but we're happy with the colours we get; it also means the heads aren't constantly getting blocked so that you have to waste half of your ink cleaning them.
Printing can be set to single or double sided and the scanner will do single sheets or a stack. USB and/or wireless and easy to set up. As with all laserjets the cartridges last a long time, even the ones it's delivered with.
This is the one, although I bought mine from PC World.
