websites not working

Is it just me or are there a lot of websites not working at present? It has been fine all morning but about an hour ago some sites are unobtainable ie: webshots, bbc, amazon and many others. Anyone else having similar problems? I am using mozilla and pipex

Amazon has been awful all day. It's taking ages to load and then it keeps timing out. I assume it's people madly doing last-minute shopping that is causing it. Let's hope the pressies come in time!

yea same kinda thing happened to me all of a sudden it took ages to load or wouldnt load at all, which is weird as my computer is normally fine. i use mozilla firefox.

I have lots of sites not working. I can't get onto msn or bbc webpages. I am glad this site is still working!!! The majority don't seem to be at the moment. Anyone else having similar thing happen?

this is not to do with what browser you use, its all about what isp you have, and what site(s) you're trying to access.

it could be that the site itself is not setup to take the amount of traffic it's receiving at this time of year (unlikely for the likes of amazon). its far more likely to be caused by some problem with your ISP's servers. your ISP's DNS server could be updating, but I find it more likely that its down to the number of users, etc.

I and a few friends have been experiencing the same thing for a few days now, it is like I only have dail up speed and most sites time out before loading!

I can't put it down to site traffic as the problem is there 24/7 (I have 5.10am here and the problem is still there)!

PhilBy: sounds perhaps like an ISP issue. are your friends either all in the same area on ADSL, or all using the same ISP?
