Weirdly, this thread was locked and I couldn't reopen it in my usual browser. However, having switched broswers, it now seems to be accessible again.

You can't use Whatsapp solely on a Windows PC. However you can access your account from a PC if you've already got Whatsapp on your phone. To do so, you need to download, run and install this file:

That is interesting, because in the past I gave up mirroring the mobile on the desktop because it became hit & miss, and eventually always failed. Must try this when I am back home.
