I have been pondering over getting one for some time now but am completely confused.
There are so many options.
Any advice please from any of you who have one.
Best make, wired or battery and do I have to have an Alexas?
Any advice welcome before I make my final decision

I have a Ring doorbell connected to the mains. It doesn't need Alexa, it has its own app for your smartphone and tablet. It also has a very clear chime that you can plug in anywhere.
I like it.
While many so-called 'review' websites are nothing more than thinly-disguised ads for specific products, I have total faith in the integrity of this one. So I suggest that you take a look at the recommendations here:

(No, you don't need Alexa).
Blink-ing hell can't be bothered to read all that right now. :0)
You want to buy one, too, pimply?

Thanks guys for your info.
Shall read that page again Beunchico. It may help.
I've been considering one for a while Chris, and your link is very helpful, so thanks, I may stop procrastinating and go ahead soon.
I bought and put one on for friend. Stick the bell on front (make sure you are happy where it is). She put plug/ringer beside her in living room and when bell rings - she has a choice of different rings/music. So easy. I could get you a link if you are interested.
JJ is that a video door bell?
sorry - just reading that you want video - ie looking to be able to see - no don't have that one.

having said neighbour has one - I could ask her if you like.
