Problem With Laser Printer

My HP color (sorry!) laser printer pro M254dw has started printing red/pink stripes over the right hand size of the page. Sometimes there is a continuous stripe; other times there is a patchy, intermittent mark.
Has anyone any idea as to (a) what it is and (b) how to stop it please?

Seriously though it probably needs a service. Have you replaced the drums recently?

Suggestions extracted from the user manual:

1. Try removing the cartridge, shaking it to redistribute the toner and then replacing it ;

2. If that doesn't work, try printing a cleaning page. (See page 95 in the manual for instructions) ;

3. Still no joy? Check the toner level in the cartridge ;

4. If you're still stuck, you could try replacing the cartridge or forking out £21.49 for technical support over the phone from HP. Otherwise it might be time to look for a new printer.
