Which printer?
14 Answers
Can I have some recommendations for a printer please? Here are my criteria:
Not a Lexmark
Good quality printing
General purpose rather than one primarily for photos
Reasonably priced ink cartridges
Don't need scanr/copy functions
Price around 70
I think that's it. Anything come to mind?
Thanks

For the money you expect to spend you can only get black and white, but that may be enough for your general printing needs.
Here are some examples (but there are other makes)

epson C66 should do it.
they do loads of similar models though. go for high-quality 3rd party inks:

ZebUK - I hope you're still around. I've been checking some reviews on the R300, and most seem to be very good. I didn't originally want a printer that was mainly a photo printer, but it does sound good.
A couple of questions. Some people have said there are issues with XP and SP2 (which I have). Do you or your mum have these, and have you noticed any problems with photos printing very dark? Also, how do you find it for everyday use, text and so on?
Thanks

people only usually have problems with XP SP2 when they use the drivers that came with the printer, that were only written for XP SP1. The printer you choose now will probably come with more up-to-date drivers, or you wont have a problem with it. if you do, just download the latest drivers from the website.
