I have a HP nc6000 laptop.

The battery meter states there is 76% of power and it is charging yet if i take out the AC power plug the computer immediately shuts down.

Any ideas anyone?....is it possible to test the battery in some way?

thanks....

Sounds like your battery has gone. I've had two batteries go on my laptop. They'll charge for hours but dont seem to hold it. I think its supposed to be something to do with lithium-ion batteries that get run down to absolutely nothing then wont charge.
