Help Tv Software Update

Help, my mum who live 150 miles away has a big Box on her TV screen saying she needs to do a software update (sony tv)  but none of the buttons o  the remote are working to accept it. She has virgin and I wonder if her TV itself isn't connected to the Internet so can't update. I have little idea of her set up but is it possible to receive TV via virgin without having the actual TV connected to the Internet for updates?

maybe it not the tv asking to update but the box you mention, so it would have another remote for it.

It’s a Sony tv number on back KD-43x7053

It's deffo the TV not the virgin box

check the batteries in remote, and is the tv connected to the internet, it maybe a freeview update so do not need internet.

Make sure she's using the tv remote and not the box remote even though it might control the volume, it may not control all features of the tv.

Also check the tv remote batteries are ok.
