speeding up my pc

i have a packard bell amd sempron 3000+ processor 1.81ghz and 448mb ram. computer is running bit slow so id like to speed it up, will adding extra ram help? or is my processor just too slow?

your processor is fine but you could do with doubling up your ram to 1Gb

Agree re. the 1Gb RAM. I suspect you use onboard video too rather than having a separate video card (as it's reporting 448Mb vs. 512Mb).


It may also be worth looking at a separate video card - this would take some load off the processor.

as the above suggest, 1GB RAM should do you fine, but you should also consider buying a dedicated graphics card (this seems to be something you are lacking):

that should do you fine, I would have thought (you need an AGP [8x] graphics port).

thanks everyone, ill double up on the ram and get agraphics card. dont think ill try this myself though!
