Can't get onto some websites
7 Answers
Hi, not very good with computers, so hope that somebody can help me. I recentl cleaned up all the 'crap' off my PC (Programs) After doing so, got an 'error 404' message when trying to acces one program. Didn't know what this was so I went on the net to find out - found a sponsored link, and downloaded a 'free registry' program to sort it. It found 83 problems but wanted $49.99 to register and fix them. Paid it, and it told me that it had.
Tried the program again, but still got the 'error 404' message. Uninstalled then re-installed it and it then worked.
Now the real problem!
Seems that after I ran the registry cleaning program (which they refunded me for!), I am not able to get onto most websites. When I contacted my Broadband provider to enquire whether this was because of a bandwdth restriction, they said that it was not, but was probably a problem with my registry - this problem makes apparently makes most sites reject me when attempting to connect????? - the message I get when I try is 'Alert. .........could not be found, Please check the name and try again.'
Any assistance would be grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

You should not buy programmes that are not a well known make, especialy those that con you into buying them. I think your best bet is to get your computer seen to by a reputable repair shop.
