i recently purchased some dvds from china. Didn't realise until i got home they were region3 and region 1. I believe my dvd only plays region 2. How do i get round this problem? Is there a code i can input? If not, what is the normal cost for a dvd player that plays these regions as my friend lives in china and has said she will probably send them for birthdays etc as easy to post!

Have a look on this site for your player make/model:

If it's not there then the region coding probably can't be disabled.

You could make a copy of the film using dvdshrink - removes the coding
Do a search on Google for a program called AnyDVD. This program runs in the background and automatically removes region coding on a DVD enabling any DVD to be played on any player
