Hey, i posted on thursday asking about what laptops to buy. I found out about the 'Dell Outlet' where refurbished laptops are sold. I was looking into a Dell Inspiron 630M Pentium M Proc 750 1.86 GHz XP Media Center Edition 2005. Its only 493 pound. Is this a good price? it has a 60gb Harddrive and 1gb ram.

if your looking for a decent laptop go to www.apple.com , and if you really want to run Windows XP on it, you can now (www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp)

And a 60gb hard drive will be too small if you are thinking about putting music, photos, videos, films etc on it, but its fine if your not.

The Mac's are only running 1.43 Ghz and are more expensive than the above and have less app's and games. Or am i being Stereo-typical??

It sounds resonable, but my experience with Dell is the second you get it update the bios and drivers. before you install any software, many times updating Dell hardware has left previously installed software useless.

And if you find the Inspiron freezing up regularly, get it replaced before the warrenty runs out!!!

Apple Macs have their place in professional graphic design and in recording studios, but for home PCs they're overpriced, not easy or cheap to upgrade, work with few peripherals and aren't beginner-friendly. If you buy one to word process and browse the internet you're getting ripped off.

I can't believe people keep recommending them.
