Is there any problem with using a Japanese bought computer to access the internet in the UK using a Japanese bought 802.11b Wi Fi card? The computer has a 56kbps V.90 modem.

I think you need a Wi Fi access network to connect to (is this equivalent to a cell-phone network such as Vodaphone?) which may limit you to airports and other public places, but one of the selling points of the technology is that you can use it all over the world.
