Internet Explorer

Hello, I've forgotten the password to my internet link in windows 98 - the security password that can be put on or off. I was wondering, is it possible to gain access other than with the password. And yes, before anyone gets edgy, it IS my own computer.
Thankyou in advance!

Or is it your password that your internet service provider (ISP) requires (along with you username) to allow you to connect to the external server? If it is the latter, just phone up your ISP and bully them into telling you (or resetting) your password. If it is the former, I have no idea! Passwords on Windows 98 are saved as .pwl files so you could search for *.pwl and delete them all (essentially resetting your password). The only other password thing I know of is the content adviser nonsense in IE which I have never tried to crack.
Do you get the message saying that the content advisor password is on?
If so then you will be able to take this off. Follow the instructions below:
) Click on Start and choose Run.
2) Type in RegEdit and select OK.
(IMPORTANT) - you had better back up the registry as a safety measurem, even though you should'nt have a problem)
3) Now click on the little plus sign to the left of H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
4) Continue to drill down, always clicking on the plus sign at the left of the named key, through Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version and Policies.
5) Now click on the Ratings folder.
6) In the right pane of the RegEdit window, you'll see an icon called Key. Click on it and press Delete.
7) Next, choose Registry and then Exit to exit RegEdit. You've just deleted your original Content Advisor password.
8) Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again.
9) Choose View and then Internet Options (or Options for version 3.x)
10) Click on the Content tab and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password.
let me know how you go.
