I'd like to change to this from dial-up, but there's a limit of 1GB a month on downloads.I don't know how much this is. I don't download much, but would it support, say, installation of an antivirus program ? Are there any snags I should know about ? Thank you in advance for any help.

well done for deciding to go to Broadband, you wont regret it.

If you are not really a downloader, then 1GB is a decent amount. If you are installing your anti virus from a disc this wont use any of your 1GB, but if you are downloading it, it will use some of your 1GB but I would have thought only about 20% at the very most.

The problem is going to be, once you actually do download your first music album, you will want to download more, and you will soon find that one 1GB is not going to be enough.

Thanks, Teak, this is very helpful. I use the Net a lot, but never download music, just the little programs recommended in PC magazines, like Memokeys. Do you know that one ? I waste inordinate amounts of time waiting for sites to load, so it's broadband for me now.
You might want to look at Pipex too - cheaper + some free phonecalls per month. I've been using them since 2000 and very pleased so far - about 14.99 I think....
plus check out Tiscali... I believe they do a 1MB unlimited line for 14.99 a month.
