Recently certain usb hardware has been playing up. My printer and webcam are fine but my pendrive and digital camera lead wont work. When I plug them in I get a message 'one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not reconize it' I have tried them in a different pc and they work fine so it has to be my computer.

Please could someone help me get my things up and running again, Thanks.

I had similar problems that were down to incompatibilities between USB 1 and USB 2. But if there were working, you haven't changed anything and now they don't, this is unlikely.
It's possibly a corrupted or incorrect driver for the USB hub in your machine. Have a look in Device Manager, look for anything tagged with yellow or red. If any, delete the device, then restart your machine to get it to reinstall.

I just plugged in my old usb 1.0 hub and the devices now work? Can I delete this hub so that I wont have to use it?

cheers
Certainly you could, but I suspect it wouldn't make any difference. Try it. Delete its driver, then remove the device and restart.
