Has anybody recorded from a video tape (not camcorder) to a DVD using a DVD recorder?
Is this possible for all DVD recorders?

You know you can get (quite cheaply now too!) combined video and DVD recorders, which enable you to copy with one button from one to the other and vice versa.

Other than that, surely it's a question of having the right outputs, inputs and leads if you have seperate machines.
Yes - I have recorded many video tapes to dvd.

I have to set the dvd manually to record EXT2 as the channel.

Yours may be set up differently.

However, this will not work for commercially made video tapes that are copyright protected. It records a black screen with a small white cross.
i think you may have to have a switchboard that contains an input/output control for each device (you can get one from agros for 9.99) and put the VHS onto output and DVD onto input and press record on the corresponding machine and vice versa

i hope i helped /mad sense
:D
fitzy - I don't have any of those gizmos.

My video player and dvd recorder are both hooked up with scart leads.

Both record from the tv - digital and terrestial - and from each other.
and rfegarding copyright tapes, all you have to do is block the hole at the back - I have many old video's that I have transferred,
Postdog - that doesn't work on the more recent videos, sadly.

The technology improved.
Ethel is correct.
You can connect the VHS to the DVD recorder with a normal scart lead, and off you go (assuming that there's no copy protection on the video tape - then it's gets a bit more complicated, but is still do-able)
