Encrypt the wireless signal from the router.

Always choose WPA PSK (PSK stands for Pre Shared Key). This is much more secure than WEP.

Forgot to say, most wireless routers also allow you to restrict which devices (by entering their MAC addresses) can connect to your wireless network. It's also a good idea to stop broadcasting your SSID (basically the name of your network).

Also, turn off remote/wireless configuration of the router, so that you have to be physically connected to it in order to change any settings.
