cant restore my lappy.

i want to remove a couple of programs and cant. so decided to go through the system restore option. ive tried three or four differant dates but the system refuses to restore to a previous date !!

i know i can remove files/programs through the "search" option, but would rather find the problem..

Norton is saying my system is ok and running as it should...

any ideas would help.. thanks in advance..

This from the Windows XP help page:

Note: System Restore does not replace the process of uninstalling a program. To completely remove the files installed by a program, you must remove the program using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel or the program's own uninstall program. To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.


You will have to use the search and do it that way. Set a new system restore point first.

perhaps try removing the programs in safe mode? or try restoring computer in safe mode?

This is how to restart in safe mode:

* If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
* Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
* Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
* Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
* Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
* When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.

GOT MESELF SORTED THANKS PEEPS....

went through the "search" option and deleted the files manualy.... couldnt create a restore point, so am hoping it comtinues to run ok..

for the record, i think it was a conflict between an installed programme and an update for a programme...
