i saw a video on yuotube of some guy editing a registry entry by changing the value data which gave him the ability to see the cards on the game 'hearts' by holding several keys in combination. imagine that i wanted to do this. what would i need to learn? i dont mean that i want to cheat at hearts, i mean that it isnt binary, it isnt java, it isnt c/c++, it isnt assembly etc. what the hell is it that i would need to learn?
thanks

OK, watched the video. He's not doing anything amazing. Hearts just accepts certain values from the registry. When the developers at Microsoft wrote Hearts, they also included some hidden possible values that the program would recognise if there, and that would allow some key combination or something like that. A bit of an Easter Egg, like the flying game in Excel 97.

This guy on the video has just found what this hidden value is on some forum somewhere, typed it in, and it's worked. He hasn't messed around with any C++ or anything more clever like that.
Oh yea, so, if you wanted to do that stuff, just look around the internet and find these hidden values. They're very easy to do. I can remember playing about years ago and changing the default Windows startup screen to a rotating skull graphic.
