Bluetooth No Connection

My two laptops are both fitted with internal Bluetooth software and transmitters, The Acer Travelmate 8100 can "see" and send files to the Sony Vaio TX1HP-W. The Sony can "see" the Acer, but on trying to connect the message "unable to detect service" appears..If the Sony can "see" the Acer why will it not connect......Help it's driving me to drink.
