Hello, my friend has recently moved to Uni and taken her computer with her. We've connected it up and everything's definitely in the right socket but every time she switches it on the screen just displays the message "Going to Sleep" and the computer acts as if it's in Sleep mode. It doesn't even get to the startup screen (Black with white writing, looks like DOS) so starting it in safe mode doesn't seem possible. Is it possible something got damaged in the move and this might be the problem? Any other suggestions?

Ah thanks anyway she's just told me she's taking it to PC world tomorrow. She's scared she'll break it otherwise!
Let us know how much it costs her for the 2 minute fix.

She texted me again today saying her Dad's taking it to the little local computer shop around here - I'm happy. It's a really nice, friendly shop sand they don't charge for common sense.
Good choice, PC World, in my opinion, charge too much for too little.
