Wi-Fi file transfer

Wireless Desktop up stairs ... wireless laptop downstairs ... how do I set them both up to be able to send files from one to the other in both directions ? I know there is a wizard in XP but it just doesnt seem to work ... anyone know where I can get hold of an idiot guide ... or what i am likely to be doing wrong ?

Do you have a firewall installed on either machine?

Am using zone alarm on laptop ... regular xp firewall on desktop ..
Make sure Zone Alarm is configured to allow the traffic thru. Disable it temporarily to see if this is causing the problem. It probably is.
