control panel, internet options, clear history - and set to 0 if you don't want them to be kept when you are surfing.

Oh dear !! Done that and it has achieved what I wanted and of course something else. I only wanted to remove the items from the address bar. Is there a way of doing this in isolation ?
Hi mikewall01,
a simple destroyer of addressbar cache in ie6 and up, on xp etc. ; Tools/Internet Options/ Content tab click on Autocomplete; in the dialogue box, uncheck 'Web adresses' - also forms, and passwords if you want to. To do a regular deep clean of all these caches and your 'index.dat' which keeps a record of every website you visit, download Sweeper by Emery [freeware] It will clean as few or as many superhidden spyfiles as you want through their Options box. I use this weekly and it is safe. :-)
