How can I connect a Apple G4 powerbook to my windows xp pc?

I have free ethernet cables and ports but I do not know whether this is the correct way to connect the two.

I have two pc's running xp connected together and to broadband via a linskys router - this has the spare ethernet port.

What should I do to allow the two to talk to each other, is there software I need??
