computer still slow?

Need another brain to help me sort this out. msn messenger emails are all running fine but why I am getting the egg timer thing on screen for about 2 minutes before the page comes up.I have cleared cookies files ect and only used 14% of space It is like a record sticking at times .Thanks for any suggestions what to try.

forgot to add that on the odd day it runs absotutelt perfect.

I downloaded [advanced uninstaller 2006] free
it cleaned mine up great,running like new now......also
remove desktop picture if you have one & any unused desktop icons they slow it down,put any photo,s & music on to discs it all helps

Sorry for late reply - another thought, are you using the new "Live" Messenger? If so, are you using it at home or work?

I know that there are problems with the Live service and some corporate systems.

Thanks for your replies no i am still on messenger 7.5 But just done more checks and when i dont go into my msn and yahoo messenger everything works smoothly and can get to dominoe games no problem but if I go on msn or messenger it all starts too run slow again and I cant get ito dominoes.Will be most grateful if someone can work that one out.Thanks

it is only when i sign into yahoo messenger i get the problem everything is fine when that is off.
