I've got several - well loads of pics on a file that I wanted to e-mail. They're saved in jpg format but it's still 1.87Meg. Is there a way of compressing the whole file [they're on a excel s/sheet] further so it'll fit on a floppy disc?

You could try Winzip ( www.winzip.com ) but as jpg's are already compressed they are unlikely to compress much further (althought you would expect some compression of the non-image parts of the spreadsheet ). Failing that you could resort to using a program like PaintShopPro to reduce the quality of the images - thereby making them smaller. Open up the image, change the jpg compression ratio, resave and put them back in your spreadsheet.
If all your pics are on one file then compressing it to a zip (or ace or whatever) format won't do anything because its only one file. Instead i recomend you use a file splitter/joiner. Go to http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32 and download HJSplit 2.2, it will allow you to split your excel file into 2 or more smaller .01, .02 etc files and then rejoin them on another computer (provided the other computer has the program as well). The only problem is that you will need to use more than one floppy to transport the split files and then copy them all onto the other computer and re-join. Not too bad if you have more than one floppy, otherwise you're stuck!
