My friend sends me Emails and if it has an attachment I cannot get it to open.A message comes up Microsoft needs to know what programme sent it.Then a box comes up with some choices to open it but none seem to work. The original email sent to my friend opens on her comp.Any ideas!
You need to know what program was used to create the attachment. Maybe your friend has some old program that is not on your computer - or you have a new one that is not on theirs.
sounds like the file type isn't known on your PC, as dzug says.
I have this problem at work sometimes, depending on whic PC I am using. Usually, it's a powerpoint file (.pps) and I haven't got powerpoint installed on one of my computers.
PS - there are (free) programs that will open .pps files other than microsoft.
Open ofiice? not really sure cos I've never used it
I had an identical problem with an email my friend sent me from her works pc. It would not open for me because it was something to do with 'excel' which I don't have. I eventually found it opened with 'open office.org2.0'
