DDE server window

For the last couple of days when closing down my PC I get a message DDE server not responding when I click end now it completes the closure. I have googled for a solution but mostly refer to windows 98 (have XP) or were answers given in 2004!!
Can anyone help please?

The only DDE I am aware of in Windows is Dynamic Data Exchange.

This was where you could link two application together so that info from one would be updated by info from another.

So you could have an Excel spreadsheet and link that Excel spreadsheet via DDE to Word, so the spreadsheet would appear inside Word.

If you were in Word, and the data in the Excel spreadsheet was updated, the image in the Word document would also update.

Although this is no longer used the technology is still in Windows XP.

Are you doing anything like that ? Maybe usign an old version of MS Office ?

thanks vehelpfulguy When I looked on Google. Dynamic Data Exchange was what came up. I am not using any Microsoft Office programmes What I have been doing is SA Tax returns for my Son and Husband using Keytime programme which is, I think, based on MS Office. I use Serif Page plus for almost everything and have been using that to update my web site. I don't know if that has any connection.
As an experiment earlier I closed down Google mail and Roboform on the task bar and closed PC down without the message. I did wonder if running Registry mechanic would have any effect
